Well after many weeks of hard voting, it's official - There is no one hotter than El Capitán. Iker Casillas of Spain A led his troops into battle and annihilated the Rest Of the World Team 5-0 with an average winning score of 75.8%. And winning another major trophy so close to winning Euro 08 led to more scenes of jubilation on the pitch from the Spanish boys.

So thank you all for participating in the inaugural Hottie World Cup. Iker would like to dedicate this trophy to everyone who knew that this was serious.

The competition heated up in more ways than one when the Spanish A Team took on the B team in our first semi final. And Spain A certainly showed Spain B how it's done. I don't know about any of you, but I couldn't quite believe that Iker beat Raul by such a large margin :( Anyway, Fernando Torres made short work of Sergio Ramos and Xabi Alonso just beat out Cesc Fabregas by 56% to 43%. Battle of the Davids ended in tears for little Silva as Villa took it with 68% and Albiol beat Bojan with a 58% majority.
Final score: Spain A 5 - 0 Spain B

Flashbacks of Euro 96 will haunt the England team forever after crashing out in yet another tournament semi final. The only members of the squad to win their head to heads were Steven Gerrard who was greatly preferred to Emmanuel Adebayor, and Michael Owen who edged out Mark Gonzalez by a mere 3%. Congrats to Roque, Danny Agger and Masoud for proving sexier than Becks, Theo and Lamps... who'd have thought it?
Final score: ROW 3 - 2 England

And so we arrive at the very first Hottie World Cup final and it's the best of the Rest of the World team taking on tournament favourites Spain A. Will Roque's South American sexiness prove a worthy match for Iker Casillas? Is anyone hotter than Iker Casillas? The quarterfinals were heated! Check out the results:

Ok well…Spain A dominated Brazil 5-0

But the Germans put in a good fight despite Spain B eventually taking them down 4-1.

ROW proved just a little to strong for Le French winning 3-2

And England made a strong run against Italy B winning 4-1.

The results leave us with two very exciting semi-final matchups!

1. Spain A vs. Spain B
Countryman vs. countryman! Can the legend that is Raul take on Saint Iker and his magical profile? Will Sernando and the Davids ever be the same after facing off in direct competition?

2. ROW vs. England
In the other semifinal, the mixed conglomerate of world hotties will take on England. Roque has been dominant, but how will he stand next to a pair of Golden Balls? Only you can decide.

Well, here are your Round of 16 results:

England defeated Australia 4-1.

Italy B narrowly defeated the USA 3-2.

Rest of the world took down the Netherlands 3-2.

Argentina took the loss against France 3-2.

Spain B thrashed Croatia 5-0.

Germany defeated Sweden 4-1.

Portugal lost to Brazil 3-2.

and lastly, in a much closer than it appeared matchup, Spain A dominated Italy A winning 4-1.

This now gives us our Quarterfinal matchups!

England takes on Italy B. Italy B had a narrow win over the USA with just 1% making them the victor. England comfortably defeated Australia, I hope however that this matchup won't be so close and much more exciting!
The dominating Spain B takes on Germany. This doesn't seem like such a challenge, but in the HWC, anything can happen.
The rest of the world led an easy defeat under the direction of hottie captain Roque Santa Cruz. They face a much tougher task of taking on Thierry Henry and his army of les beaux hommes. Let the battle of pretty begin.
Brazil took down Cron and Nuno Gomes but Spain A took down Fabio Cannavaro. I sense a Spain A/Spain B semifinal...

The Hottie World Cup - Welcome!

There is skill and then there is 'skill'. Denied of a major international competition for the year, we've decided to hold our very own version of the World Cup.

It's very simple - 16 nations, the teams consisting of five hotties who have played at international level. These ballers were selected by committee so don't complain about the inclusion/exclusion of a player.
